We are all enjoy time in different parts of the playground.
Hayseed wanted to sit by me and chat a bit but a butterfly caught our attention. It was small and little blue wings. Real pretty.
This was a cool discovery. That worm was huge. The second Hayseed touched it it slithered into the hole. You can even see the hole. It was really cool.
This is a chore the kidlins love to do. They take their time throwing the scrapes to the horses. I have to say it is relaxing.
The kidlins formed different angles with the extra fence post ends. I even heard someone shouting "Watch out for the sharks."
I love how the kidlins take over their play. This is a prime example of how kidlins work on large motor skills through play.
I have this sunhat that I'll wear at times. Well, some of the kidlins enjoyed wearing it also. Brought giggles to the playground.
H. Dean was getting creative at rigging a sandbox thing. As usual he had an audience. The curiosity of a child.
I love the fact the Dean takes the time for the kidlins to explore. Watching Dean use the drill was jaw dropping, lol, but did very well staying at a safe distance.
The pipe had a piece of velcro at the end so when he took it off it was sticky. Everyone had to touch it.
The sandbox has been long waiting for sand. Today is the day. Everyone is excited. H. Dean gets out the material to make it happen. First he put canvas down so weeds or grass won't grow through. Next a snow fence was placed. This is to stop them from digging to far. Last was the sand.
I want to say that one of the things we have taught the Kidlins is safety of motorized vehicles. Tractors are common vehicle that they are exposed to and get excited about. Now they don't want to miss out on anything so they do very well at following this safety rule. When they hear a vehicle they are taught to stand next to a building or fence to be seen. Same with cars. Children like to run and greet parents but until parents get out of the car they are to stay in the fenced playground.
So, doing very well at following the safety rules they were a big help getting the sandbox put together.
The true meaning of a playpen. Play until you fall asleep. Sugar Plum is still young enough for a.m. naps but loves being outside. Around 9:30 she needs one. She makes her way around pretty good and loves time in the swing. Just like a clock she needs her nap. We snuggle for a few mins. and ready for a snooze. Pretty relaxed and ready to play again.
Frog hunting is a daily thing around here. Poor things, they don't have a chance. They are so excited to find one. It's a learning process. I remind them to take care of the frogs. Frogs have an important part in our environment. They eat nasty bugs.
But as you can see I have resorted to holding frogs so they can go off to do something, I think it was to help H. Dean do something. So precious.
Everyone is working to get our playground in shape. H. Dean just has to show up with tools and the kidlins are more then willing to help. They take great pride in helping. Good work ethics start young.
We had an early breakfast so we could get outside while it was cool. It was suppose to get hot later in the day. The forecast didn't call for rain but we got sprinkled on. It was hardly noticeable. There was a game of dinosaurs, lazy swinging and Sugar Plum was playing on her own. She is really getting around now that she's walking. The morning turned out wet but joyful.
Farmer started building a wall of blocks. Pretty excited and wanted to make it higher. He asked Hayseed to help him stack them higher. They were able to go above higher then Hayseed. Curly handed the boys the blocks. Then they found the frog.
I can't help how the kidlin's interest go from one thing to the next. Active minds.
There is always excitement when the kidlins find a frog. I was able to cox the kidlins to sit on the grass and each one touch it and let it go. That was an accomplishment to let a frog go but we sent it on it's way home.
Pulled some weeds in the garden today. Some of the kidlins wanted to know when they could eat the veggies. So I pulled a carrot plant to show how little it was. I also trimmed the tomato plant. Curly & Sugar Beet examined the plants. Curly also found a rock and she showed Sugar Beets. Wiggles played dinosaurs near by feed his dino grass.
What a way to keep cool. We stayed inside for the morning. After nap we headed outside with a tub full of soapy water and bubbles. I added to the fun with the water hose.
After pushing his little sister Wiggles needed to sit down and rest. Such a big job pushing her on the swing. I have to say these 2 love playing together.
H. Dean put a ball on the top of the swing and challenged a kidlin to get it. Well, Curly accepted the challenged. Took her maybe 2 mins for her to examine the issue and figured out she needed to get a toy rake to knock it off. The girl is quick on her toes.
H. Dean needed to make improvements to the horse swings. Well, as he walked across the playground he had everyone follow. He took the time to show the kidlins the tools and how he was going to use them. Hayseed was pretty happy that he got to use them by himself.
Sugar Plum doesn't want to sit back and watch. She wants to get into the mess of things. She managed to crawl and walk to this spot. I missed the shot of her as she first sat in the hole. She plodded down and looked at me with the biggest smile. She loves exploring.
The kidlins find the oddest spots to relax. I think it's the small rocking motion they do that makes it comfortable.
Rainy days might keep us in but that doesn't mean we aren't productive.
It just takes a night rainfall for everyone to enjoy cooling their feet off. I can't keep them out. It doesn't pay to to try.
