Hayseed had his kindergarden prescreen last Friday. He didn't do very well. He wouldn't follow directions, put shapes together and an eye test.
He is a January boy. So he does have time. I didn't think he would do well not because I didn't think he could do it but what the schools expect of children these days. But he is a busy body. Hands on kind of kid and shy.
So I asked him to do this shape file folder while I made breakfast. Then I had him show H. Dean. He did it with no problems at all when it came to the shapes, size was a different issue, but he has never done this file folder before and he did it within a 5 min time frame, give or take.
So it's not that he can't do it, it's more of him being comfortable with who he does it for.
After talking with mom I also found out that the room they use for prescreening as distractions, toys mainly. How can a child focus if there are toys in the room. On top of that it's an hour long. That is a long time. Some children aren't ready to sit or focus for that long. When I had him do the file folder he didn't sit the whole time, he got of his chair and stood by the table.
I just don't agree with somethings. There was a reason we homeschooled our children.
