I love the fact that I hear more and more giggles as we spend time outside. The fresh air does wonders.
I can't help think that we enjoy every corner of our playground. I can't help think how we still have things to do.
Some of my friends were competing about our work/office view. So this is mine. I love the fact my work environment changes. It can be outside most days and love it.
It's been getting nice out for the babies to come out to play.
We watched the Wizard of Oz to learn about tornados and in the process a few feelings.
The girls decided to fly away on their broom/rake sticks.
Taking care of each other is a big part in our play. I encourage the kidlins to make it right and find out what, and how. It takes awhile but we work on it everyday. It does make a difference.
How can you not be tempted to throw the ball when someone taunts you with "Nay, Nay, you can't hit me."
These 2 were so busy making pancakes this morning. I could hear them counting out ingredients.
MN summers aren't complete without a water slide. Love how they come up with this stuff.
The kidlins said the swing needed to be cleaned and painted. Buckets of water and brushes and they all got to work.
Water is a big part of our play. So after I set up the water station everyone had easy access to water to make soup.
Water is one of those must haves in play. Kidlins just can't get enough. For now I have set up this system.
I took the sensory tub, water hose and a tub full of empty juice, creamer and yogurt containers. I positioned it by the fence and have the hose dropped over the fence. We fill the tub up with water and the kidlins come and fill their containers to their play. Refill has needed.
Well MN wasn't suppose to get rain but we did. We started outside and played in the rain for a bit. The rain was a tad chilly so we headed inside, twice, lol.
That didn't stop us from having fun. It's never ending. Puts a smile on my face every time. Love my job.
Getting some play time before the rain. Barely get done with breakfast and they are asking if they can go outside. Of course we can.
There was a moment of conflict about play. As I watch from a far I let them take care of the conflict. Happy to say they figured it out. Accomplished at learning as we grow.
The threat of rain didn't deteriorate our play time. Tons of giggles going on today. Even had sometime playing tag in the rain.
Had some sister time at the swings.
The kidlins were anxious to get outside. So I told them they could take their oranges outside to eat. It tastes so much better in the sunshine, lol.
Also got the water source going. Can't have kitchen play without water. Filled some tubs up to play with. Happy play happy kidlins.
Love those sunny days. The kidlins went from one end of the playground to the next.
The last 2 kidlins had some fun on the round bales. Can't help giggle how O was leary of crossing bales. L was a great encouragement and offered a hand. O is afraid of heights but he keeps trying little by little.
We finally got to enjoy a full day outside. The only reason we went inside was to eat.
We were able to observe some wild fowl in the back pasture.
2 of the girls realized that they both had the same shirt on. How excited they were.
MN is giving us a run for our money. Trying to get Spring going but MN weather is playing tricks on us. Well we took some time to outdoors. Played a game of tag and got the chalk out to do some drawings. How good it felt to get some time fresh air and run!!!
The rest of our day was spent inside.
We had a surprise snow fall this April. Helper Dean piled up the snow for the kidlins to have fun with. They enjoyed every inch of it. Afterwards block time appreciated.
Bought a sewing table. This is a little challenging for them but they keep trying.
Was able to enjoy the comfortable winter fun. How they love snow. They get so excited. They never last to long but have fun when they can.
Had fun playing with baking soda, vinegar and measuring equipment. It was heart breaking to run out of vinegar. Also enjoyed geo boards and sensory tub. It's such a relaxing time for them to keep busy.
They were forming new relationships, taking physical and emotional risks, solving problems, testing boundaries, imagining, hypothesizing, figuring out how things worked, building, deconstructing, creating, moving their bodies in novel ways, engaging their senses, thinking, feeling, constructing concrete knowledge and a million, million more…
There are always people who doubt that children are capable of learning without being “taught.” There are people who look for proof, or some sort of product to take home at the end of a day that ensures something was learned. I think this has to do with varying factors…societal and cultural pressures, a systemic flaw that promotes testing kids relentlessly (because knowledge MUST be measured or it doesn’t exist!), competitive parents who feel like they want their child to “succeed”, and a simple misunderstanding of what children really need…TRUST. (This isn't my quote but what I do.)
Bought some eraser boards for magnet fun. As you can see learning how to spell their names was top of the list. Some enjoyed the simple pleasure of house play and blocks.
