At 40 Acres we let nature take part in our day. After baling Helper Dean suggested we go take a walk in the field. (He wanted the kidlins enjoy the bales.) I guess you could say the kidlins had a Hay Day out in the field. They were jumping from bale to bale, running in between the bales like a maze and some hide and seek.
Helper Dean suggested we move the all the outdoor equipment to our future playground site. So we did. After leveling the swings we noticed that there was a little visitor watching us.
Now all we have to do is put up the fencing for boundaries.
String Bean has been trying to climb the slide for weeks now. Today he finally did it.
We went inside earlier then usual. Because I had a small group today Helper Dean took some time to get ready for haying. So while the babies were napping we went outside. But once they woke up we had to go in. It was to cold for the little ones. So we went inside and had playtime.
The train table was busy but there was a game of pretend kitty play.
Took a few moments to check the garden. Our seedlings are starting to grow. There are a few seed not popping through yet but after tomorrows I have a feeling we will see something soon.
The stump was starting to sprout flowers too. I put a flower mix in there. I did this the year before and it looked so pretty.
I thought it was pretty inventive of Squirrel to find a way to replace the broken handle on the firetruck.
Lately the helper of the day isn't working as well as we thought it would. So what I have been doing is just asking the kidlins to do a task for me when I need them to. And no I really don't need them to but it is life's lessons that need to be done.
I found this irresistible. Dolly and Squirrel were watching t.v. while I made dinner. They started talking about the show and how they liked it etc, etc, etc.
String Bean just loves Sugar Beet. He can get her giggling. Today he was giving her kisses. I kept missing that shot.
I have a few kidlins that need to unwind right away when they get here, so to prevent the rough housing I have been having them sit and do activities while I'm waiting for others to come.
We have been heading outside everyday now for 2 1/2 hours after reading The Secret Garden. The kidlins seem to take in the moments. Just when I figure out what game they are playing they change it, lol. I love it.
Butterfly and Farmer were having fun with the wheel barrow. Farmer was able to give her a ride but when it was his turn Butterfly just couldn't do it. Big difference in size and weight.
Then the bar was open. Grass once again became a side dish.
Dolly got inventive with the swings.
Hayseed and Squirrel were having fun yelling/talking through the swing set bar. It's amazing the sounds that can be passed through an empty pipe.
Oh those days of summer.
I find this terrific. Because we are reading The Secret Garden, I'm finding the kidlins noticing birds more. We barely walked outside and Butterfly noticed the Robin pecking at the ground. It's hard to see but it's on the edge of the dirt. They have also been noticing the birds singing more often too.
Later on the kidlins have noticed the white clover growing in the yard and wanted to smell the flower bush.
Bugs found a bug. I think it was a dead moth but they thought the world of their little find. They put it in on of the clear containers for observation. Guess who said that phrase.
There are times a little extra TLC is needed.
Hero got into a mood today. So he went and sat by himself. Unfortunately his attitude didn't change after he spent time alone. He started a game but wouldn't let Buttercup and Sprout play a game he started with the younger kidlins. We had a little talk. I also had to have a little talk with Buttercup and Sprout about forgiveness. Ugh, our days are a bit challenging at times.
Today was another beautiful day. Nice cool breeze and sunny. Lots of laughter.
While I'm doing dishes I have the kidlins take turns going to the bathroom then sit in the living room. I thought this would be a good time for them to learn how to have a quite moment of conversation. At times I suggest they talk about what they did with family last night or what the had for supper. Buttercup and Sprout were talking about their new sister.
Dolly spent a lot of time with the kitchen today. She made everyone some dinner. They used grass for a salad.
Before we started the garden I had the kidlins run for awhile. The weather was nice. There was a slight breeze so we didn't get to hot but nice and sunny.
Few of the kidlins helped with the garden the rest of them played in the dirt.
Dean showed Buttercup and Sprout how to wire the cages to the poles so the beans and cucumbers could climb up for support.
Dean seen a frog so of course they all had to see it. The simple joys of childhood.
We started reading The Secret Garden. We have discussed how Mary went to live with her uncle because her parents died from a disease. We talked about how our families are.
Taking a globe we found where we live and how far India and England is.
We looked at some of the seed packets I picked up for our garden.
Giggles was showing Sugar Beet how to play with the chair toys. She had the biggest smile. I just couldn't capture the smile.
We had a rough morning. Our days don't always go smoothly. These 3 kidlins just couldn't stop the sibling rough housing. So they had 2 choices draw or sit quietly.
Well the hot days of summer are a upon us. June is starting and we feel the heat. How do we cool off. With water play of course.
Dean got a little happy with the camera at breakfast.
Dean was giving Wiggles and Giggles snack yesterday. He decided to get silly with the cereal. As you can see nothing out of the ordinary but he had both boys laughing. Wiggles was laughing the hardest. Not sure what he found so funny about this but he sure got the biggest kick out of it.
The kidlins were pretty excited Monday. The kidlins from last summer started on Monday and had a blast. On top of that my daughter came over with her 3 kidlins and everyone had a grand old time.
